Storvik and Ainir are working closely together to develop a container-based reception and processing facility for plastic hospital packaging, helping pave the way for more sustainable solutions within the healthcare sector.

The first pilot container is currently under construction at Sunndalsøra and represents an important milestone in the project. Recent efforts have focused on optimising camera and sensor technology to improve material recognition and enable efficient sorting and processing of plastic waste streams.

Combining Storvik’s engineering expertise with Ainir’s specialist competence in advanced sensing technologies, the project demonstrates how strong partnerships can accelerate innovation. Storvik’s engineers are responsible for the overall concept design and detailed engineering, while the fabrication team is assembling the pilot unit.

The pilot container is scheduled for commissioning at one of Europe’s major hospitals later this autumn. The project marks an exciting step towards more circular and resource-efficient solutions for healthcare waste management, with the potential to contribute to a more sustainable future for the industry
